333 Youth Resilience Programs: Preserving Primitive Skills & Ancestral Arts

We are now able to offer local families these valuable skills, perspectives, crafts, and ways of learning in and with nature.

Every month there will be workshops, classes, projects, and hikes for private groups, homeschool co-ops, and the general public. An email will be sent out each month with our calendar. And while it is encouraged to keep your children attending each class or month, it is okay to attend classes as they work with your families schedule.

The following are the departments of learning which are open to 6-15 years old:

• Mountain Mud Clan - An ongoing series of workshops working with Calaveras clay, earth, sand, straw, and water. Projects include clay pottery & paint, earthen plasters, wattle & daub, cob and adobe, natural buildings, clay murals & public art.

• Intuitive Foragers - Once a month hikes on Sundays that help children develop their intuition about plants. We will learn how to identify plants, relate to our senses, cook or create medicines with what we collect, & understand ecological stewardship practices.

• Basketweavers & Natural Fiber Crafters - Learn about the many plants we can harvest, process, and create functional or artistic objects. Plants include pine needles, cattail leaves, willow branches, grape vine & juncus reeds.

• Primitive & Ancestral Structures - Advanced workshops that focus on harvesting and preparing natural materials to build sweatlodges, umuuchas, tipis, chicken coops, deer blinds, & earthen domes.
